The 'Out of the box' initiative is being considered/marked as 'done' as of Drupal 8.8 as we have achieved the initiative aims of providing a demo of Drupal core.
However the demo will be growing/changing with core as new features get added/marked as stable (e.g. Layout Builder), and there is more we can do with what we have already.
Gábor presented the idea of moving from an initiative to a subsystem which I think makes sense.
I'm not sure what else we need to in order for that transition to happen, but MAINTAINERS.txt needs to be updated at least!

Dries CreditAttribution: Dries commentedVery exciting that we can call this done. What an accomplishment! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this fantastic result. I'm looking forward to see how this will continue to develop going forward. I agree it makes sense to move this to a subsystem now.

Gábor HojtsyAdded the three of you as members on https://groups.drupal.org/core and https://www.drupal.org/node/3060/maintainers with maintain issues permission. That should allow you to assign issue credits, reopen issues, assign other maintainers to issues other than you or the person already assigned, etc.
Well deserved!
Thanks a lot for all the work you did and continue to do!
