Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Problem/Motivation
The description and behavior is completely the same as in #2836827: Drupal.tableDrag: column span calculated wrongly for custom column, because `tabledrag.js` wasn't redesigned and mostly was migrated from 7.x.

smustgrave CreditAttribution: smustgrave at Mobomo commentedThis issue is being reviewed by the kind folks in Slack, #needs-review-queue-initiative. We are working to keep the size of Needs Review queue [2700+ issues] to around 400 (1 month or less), following Review a patch or merge require as a guide.
This appears to still be relevant as a lot of the code is still the same.
Tagging for an IS update about the proposed solution.

quietone CreditAttribution: quietone at PreviousNext commentedThis was a bugsmash daily target yesterday, discussed by larowlan and Lendude. It was agreed that this is valid and it is good to see that test coverage has been added.
There is concern that this is a duplicate. I did some searching and found a possible candidate, #997370: Tabledrag is not hiding the correct columns.
Edit: correct issue number of possible duplicate

quietone CreditAttribution: quietone at PreviousNext commentedIn #bugsmash, lendude confirmed that this is a duplicate. Since that is the later issue, I am closing it in favor of the earlier one and moving credit.
