Regression: routes can no longer be defined in one place

Problem/Motivation

In Drupal 7, you would write a route in a single place, in a single array. In Drupal 8 depending whether it's static or not, you need to define it in two places with wildly disparate syntax (one is a YAML file, the other is an event listener). This is a clear regression.

Proposed resolution

I have no idea.
