This is a follow up to #1739928: Generalize language configuration on content types to apply to terms and other entities. A mechanism is needed to allow custom default values to be added to the Language Config element.

Currently, there's no way to add custom default values to the Language Config element. An early idea at implementing this was to use a hook, but vasi1186 doesn't think this is the best solution. That proposed code is below.

I think a good to way to do this would be leveraging the new Plugin system.

We can work on plugin-ifying this later if we want/need to. Don't think this should be a top focus issue.

Outdated. Now you can edit language defaults on entity types, or there are mechanisms around that.
