DDI is not listed there, I think we should add it.

Steps to accomplish this:
* Confirm consensus that we want to do this and address potential concerns here.
* Draft the text to be added to MAINTAINERS.txt here in the issue summary
* File a Drupal core patch to commit the text to Git

There has been some discussion in the DDI channel about this issue but i wanted to add in particular xjm's comments here because they were particularly enlightening:

Also, another note -- core/MAINTAINERS.txt is, well, core (not Drupal.org, separate governance). Core mentoring is there because (historically at least) it was structured around scaling core development and issue management. OTOH Dries is the only person who can select initiatives or appoint initiative leads.

Some initiatives do start as "grassroots", but they still have to be "blessed" by Dries to go into core/MAINTAINERS.txt, and the initiative lead(s) must also all be approved by Dries. So I'd prefer DDI retain its separate (excellent) governance. It makes total sense to add the initiative once it's started and has the whole signoff thing done. But I'd also suggest the initiative be a separate thing from DDI as a community organization.

Also interestingly the mentoring coordinators were discussing this week whether mentoring belongs in the file anymore now that the mission has expanded beyond "just" core.
