Problem/Motivation

They are called DisplayBuilderPreset but they are not bound to Display Builder and may move to UI Patterns 2 later.

They are called:

  • "Block patterns" in Wordpress
  • “Presets” or “Elements” in WPBakery
  • 'Sections" in Nimble Builder SP Page Builder

Proposed resolution

  • "Pattern" is a good name, because it is the design systems term for "An arrangement of components for a specific purpose", but it may confusing for our community because of "UI Patterns" module which was previously using "patterns" term for "components"
  • "Preset" is good because it is what is actually happening under the hood (saving, reusing) but maybe too generic
  • So, I am proposing PatternPreset to keep both meanings and stay specific

Let' use sentence case ("Pattern preset") instead of title case ("Pattern preset") for entity label because it is what Core do for other config entities.

This is also the opportunity of rewording some parts:

  • "A Pattern preset is used in the library of preset in a display builder." > "A Pattern preset is a reusable arrangement of components."
  • "List of display builder presets to extend site functionality." > "Available pattern presets."
  • "List of display builder presets to extend site functionality." > "Add a pattern preset"
  • "Pattern preset configuration" > "Pattern presets"
