The 6.x version of the module doesn't work on a fresh install any longer. There are several patches to try and get it working that have been submitted over the past couple of years. It's broken and has to be patched several times to get working.

I don't think the maintenance status is appropriate for the module.

Sorry, I'm seeing now that my issue was related to the Special Menu Items conflict.
