I hit save, it refreshes page, fields are blank again. If I fill it out again and hit save again, another profile is created.

Is this a bug or something not set up right?

Figured it out. I was using hook_form_later to unset all the stuff I didn't want available. Apparently unsetting "author" causes this issue. I switched to setting #access to false and it fixed it.
