el1_1el commentedI took a look and it does warn you the workflows will be deleted prior to uninstalling. After checking my workflows in admin/config/development/configuration/single/export it looks like every workflow includes
After commenting out all functionality while leaving classes intact to see if I could have that dependency removed, I can only guess that the dependency is added due to the extending of the content moderation module
Hopefully someone may have a better way to fix this properly in an uninstall hook but in the meantime, the best way to uninstall is to remove
from every workflow export and reimport prior to uninstalling, sort of like you have to do for modules that have field or entity dependencies. sorry

ludo.rYes indeed, that's what I did, but in the future would be better to have a more streamlined way of uninstalling the module.
Thanks for the feedback!
