This is confusing to all of our test users. Short form should only display the post content once.

They are confused by the fact that a Title input is not provided, but then when it gets posted, their title is truncated and used as the hyperlink.
I think the reason they don't like it is because the words "Create a post", and the open textarea input box is Facebook-ish, making the behaviour of the submitted short form unexpected.
Personally, I don't like the behaviour of the short form either, and I've been trying to disable it to force the Full Form by removing Global : Node partial form - but so far I've been unsuccessful.
I'm not sure what the solution is Ezra.
You want to accommodate a "quick post" into a specific group, but for more of a business application, I think people are Okay with the Full Form.
Oxwall provides a short Facebook-ish form and provides no Title, and uses the Username as the hyperlink.
Jive provide a short Facebook-ish form and provides no Title, and uses the Group name as the hyperlink to the post.
