If a product type has not been created, products can still be built without any type set.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to share.

Sadly there's a major rewrite of this module waiting in another issue (#2016561: Why should the user still select a bundle?), blocked on a patch landing in Commerce Feeds. I've created a new branch for work done in the meantime and added your fix, slightly modified.

By the way, for future reference if you submit a patch, you can submit it against -dev and mark the issue as needs review.
