XanoWhy is #1104226: Allow users to register during checkout as must-have? It's a feature that can be added in a minor release. The Commerce Checkout Redirect module provides this functionality as well.

Because basically the entire module gets rewritten in that issue to remove the fragile ajax and allow for a streamlined login/register checkout flow. Not something I want to do in a dot release.
