Most *camp conferences are run by volunteers. Managing the various tasks, who they are assigned to, and whether the tasks are completed can be a big part of organizing a conference.
I would like to suggest adding volunteer management functions, perhaps like (or using) Community Tasks, http://drupal.org/project/community_tasks.

Volunteers could then indicate their availability for particular time slots by adding the corresponding session to their schedules. You could set up more volunteer rooms if you want to specify different job descriptions.
The bit that's missing is assigning individual volunteers to particular jobs and having those assignments show up in the volunteer's personal schedule.
