Performance issues when multiple instances of ckeditor are use on one page

I have seen performance issues when using this module with field_collection or paragraphs when having ckeditor inside a multivalue field starting at about five instances both in Firefox and Chrome. Switching to the wysiwyg module with ckeditor fixes the issue. What is causing this?
