After making new testing on this module, I found out that it doesn't work on my website.

I installed, in my 5.1 drupal website latest release of the module (5.x.-1.10), installed it, created proper permissions (first, under: admin/settings/cck_field_perms; then, under: admin/user/access) for the cck field that I wanted to be viewed by registered users only.
The result of all this is that the cck field is viewed by both unregistered and registered users, although in the admin/user/access section it is clearly set that only registered users can view that cck field.
Then I tried to modify permissions again, a couple of times, editing the same content, but nothing changed. The field is still displayed for anonymous users too even if they don't have the permission.

I have the same problem, content that should not be visible for anonymous users can be viewed by everyone...

It seems even if nobody has permission to see a given CCK field, that everyone can still see it. Assigning the permissions to one role or another changes nothing as was already mentioned above. I agree with the other issue calling this a dev version. Anyone know how far back I need to go to get a working version?

Same problem. Whatever settings I make, the fields can be viewed by all users.

I am using Drupal 5.2, CCK 1.5 and CCK Field Permissions 1.10. And some other modules too, but probably of less importance for this issue.

Tidying up: http://drupal.org/node/196079 basically much of the same

I figured out why I kept on seeing the protected fields: I used contemplate and had rewritten the content of the pages.
