I received a message on the Available updates page that Captcha 6.x-2.2 (2010-May-19) was a required security update. I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled but the message continues to show. Thanks for the help.

I doubt the problem is in the CAPTCHA module, because it uses the standard Drupal packaging mechanisms.
Maybe there is some caching issue with your upgrade module? Have you already tried to clear your caches or manually refresh the update module info?

I have exactly the same problem.
I don't know how to manually refresh the update module info.
