ive just started using this module for the first time - with drupal 8.4 - and the results are unpredictable and unintuitive, and not what i was expecting after working with page manager, field groups, ds etc. i've color-coded text paragraphs and attached screenshots.

There is a possibility I am misunderstanding your approach to layout. If so, please advise.

Thanks

laurencefass created an issue. See original summary.

update: the only predictable column format i can see is "equal columns" from the bootstrap kit. all others 2+ column layouts are not behaving as expected.

Title: unpredictable and unintuitive output with drupal 8.4 » unpredictable and unintuitive multi column outputs

@laurencefass, your truth. but this is initially a problem of default layouts provided by core - when you see "25/50/25" layout that means:

Region 1 (full width)
Region 2 (25%) | Region 3 (50%) | Region 4 (25%)
Region 5 (full width)
...

So it's not obvious from the name what is inside this layout. Though, that should gone in Drupal 8.5 once we have Sections with straightforward layouts instead these crazy layouts.

Syntapse’s picture

ok thanks for testing at least i can work with equal columns...

so are we expecting a fix in 8.5?

anydigital’s picture

8.5 will probably deprecate those default layouts to make less confusion.

But anyway - I'm going to provide default layouts directly by Bricks and hide those ones from core! Follow and follow up this issue!

great ill stay posted. any idea when this will be ready? i have a great interest and support for bricks and very happy to dedicate time to testing.

Could you allocate any people resources? I can lead someone implementing that.

I hope next release will be in 3-4 weeks.

i dont have development resources at present. that may change so i'll keep you posted. i can personally test new releases.

Good! Bricks are always open for collaboration! Follow the issues and releases -- for testing!

Hi,
I created this module to override the core layouts recently:
https://www.drupal.org/project/layout_discovery_override

Might be useful in the meantime.
