I wanted to use the Bootstrap btn-group formatting instead of the currently supported tabs or pills. So I wrote some code that works for me and here is the patch.

I'm unable to apply for testing. patch is not based off of module's directory.

The patch needs work, also this will have to account for the is_single behavior on the other format types.
