the submenu is not showing up.

the submenu items are even not to find in the source code. i do not do that the first time. on the page admin/structure/menu/manage/main-menu i set for example the menu item "Domain- und Hosting-Services" to be a submenu of the menu item "Webseitenentwicklung". i tryed different setting of the checkbox "Show as expanded" but it did not help.
the submenus are visible as mainmenus on their parent pages.

the_g_bomb CreditAttribution: the_g_bomb commentedThere is an existing issue #1532448: Superfish not displaying sub-menus , which I believe may help in solving your current problem.
It highlights an issue with the superfish library that seems to cause the issue you are facing.
The solution is to ensure you download the v1.1 superfish library for use with the 1.8 superfish module, it can be downloaded from: library v1.1.
