Problem/Motivation

The 8.x version of the theme is unorganised so far and there is no clear plan ahead to make the 8.x theme release ready. This plan is an attempt to finalise a roadmap of how we can have the first release of 8.x compatible theme.

Proposed resolution

The proposed plan is as below,
- Port the 7.x theme design as is and work towards the first release of 8.x, lets call it 1.0-- no design changes
- Once the first release of the theme is ready, work towards a plan for features that are needed in the theme as part of 8.x, 9.x and beyond. This will be 2.0 and beyond.

Remaining tasks

- Port the theme's CSS to 8.x #3250056: Port theme to 8.x - Design and CSS
- Port the theme's slideshow block on home page to 8.x

User interface changes

Only
- Only in 2.0 release and later.

Data model changes

- Move the slideshow to D8 config

Upon further discussion with @gaurav.kapoor around how to chalk out a road map for 8.x and forward, we have below challenges,
- The 7.x design of the theme is now outdated.
- The 8.x branch of the theme already has a new design being used (blue background)
- However, the design being used is not shared anywhere, this is blocking us to identify what is done and what is pending to get a stable release out.
- The CSS in the 8.x theme seem to be compiled from SASS files, but these SASS files are missing in the repo.
- Based on the work that has happened, redoing the 8.x theme in another design would not be ideal.
- The bluemasters theme and the design itself was a port of a WP theme https://themesinfo.com/wordpress-theme-bluemasters-cgb1 if we have to redo the theme in a new design, should it be even called bluemasters?

Hence, we would request the contributors who worked on 8.x to share any reference designs they might have used to start the work which shall help us to identify what is pending.

The goal is to get a stable release out of 8.x which can also work on 9.x and above.
