Multilingual site

Hello,

sorry if this question has been posted already, but I'm trying to create a multilingual site with several identical (yet in different languages) home pages. I've tried to used built-in (Dr7.8) translation mechanism and created other than English version of a home page. But this translated page looks like an ordinary page, not a home page with all this fancy stuff. Is there any guide how to duplicate the home page layout? Docs? Any help (link) will be appreciated.
