The 8.x-1.x version seems to have a double escaping issue. The link created by the module is being output as plain text, not as link. I'm not sure if it's twigs auto-escaping or a mistake in the module.

Perhaps it's a mistake in our theme so feedback and patches are very welcome. The module doesn't work at all that way currently.

So that was wrong. Problem is in block--system-menu-block.html.twig which is using {{ configuration.label }} while normal block twig uses just {{ label }}. I think this comes from Classy.
