Is this an issue with the "Backup and Migrate Files" module or does it happen with "Backup and Migrate" when B&M Files is disabled? Can you tell me what version of Backup and Migrate you have (go to the Update Status page on your site and see what date the module is from).

This sounds like a duplicate of: #494808 which is fixed in the 6.x-2.x version of backup and migrate so please make sure that this bug is not against the 1.x version of Backup and Migrate. (I know this is pretty confusing, sorry)

Can you give me an actual version number for backup and migrate? Are you running version 2 or version 1? Does the problem happen when you turn off the 'Backup and Migrate Files' module?

Assuming you are running the latest version of B&M then it sounds like the safe mode settings on your server are preventing you from reading files from your temp directory. Try changing these settings in your php.ini or set your drupal temp directory to a directory that your webserver has read/write access to.

Reopen the ticket if the module's still not working after you try all this.
