No images visible when previewing on remote devices with browsersync

When developing locally and when previewing a site on remote devices with browsersync no backstetch images are visible. I have since uoloaded the same site to a live server and everything displays as it should.

I am just working with the default config and not using any contexts. I do not see any console messages and I am unsure whether this is a problem with backstretch module, backstretch.js or browsersync.
