autocomplete does not work with drupal 7.39 and autocomplete_widgets 7.x-1.x

I just upgraded to drupal 7.39 which includes a fix that requires revisions to autocomplete modules. So I also upgraded autocomplete_widgets to the latest dev at 7.x-1.0-rc1+1-dev (2015-Aug-29) thinking that the needed revisions where now there.

However, autocomplete no longer works. No errors, just does not work. Any ideas?
