As similar discussion from http://drupal.org/node/1290080 this module should also have a similar fix to use the "Clear" option from http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/includes!token.inc/function/token_replace/7

I have applied your fix, and will follow up with a simple patch when I have time. Just search in auto_nodetitle.module for token_replace and add 'clear' => TRUE to the options array.
