APEX Nonprofit is a mission-oriented subtheme for charities, foundations, advocacy organizations, community programs, and nongovernmental organizations using APEX.
Its generous, image-led design combines mission-green and donation-orange tokens with five Single Directory Components for donation prompts, campaign progress, impact stories, recurring giving, and accountability information.
Mission and supporter presentation
The theme uses a DM Sans-oriented humanist stack, generous line spacing, and a 65-character reading measure. The visual system distinguishes mission content from donation actions while remaining configurable through the parent APEX stack.
Font-family stacks are defined in CSS, but font files are not bundled. Use approved assets or browser fallbacks and review licensing, privacy, caching, and performance.
Five Nonprofit components
- Donate CTA: up to five suggested gifts, per-amount impact context, a custom amount, an optional recurring-gift choice, matching-gift copy, and a form destination.
- Impact meter: computed and capped campaign progress with progressbar semantics, goal and raised values, up to four impact metrics, an optional deadline, and last-updated time.
- Story card: feature, grid, and compact presentations for image-led stories with program, location, and outcome information.
- Recurring giving: a sustaining-supporter card with featured monthly amount, impact explanation, member count, and sign-up destination.
- Trust strip: supplied accreditation marks, legal status, tax identifier, and financial-report destination.
Container-aware styles adapt story-card variants and metric grids to their available region. Across the theme and components, links and controls receive visible focus treatment, motion can be reduced, and high-contrast, forced-color, and print adaptations are included.
The components do not process payments, store donors, calculate live fundraising totals, validate tax status, verify accreditations, confirm impact, issue receipts, or connect to a customer relationship management system. The site must provide those services and truthful current data.
Current installation scope
The package includes three base stylesheets, two class-only page wrappers, a settings override, five SDCs, eight ordinary block placements, and all 28 APEX regions. It inherits the parent theme's modules and page composition.
The source does not include the planned campaign, impact-report, or volunteer landing templates, payment or CRM integration, or demo content. The front-page wrapper documents a storytelling concept but does not automatically place the components.
Responsible nonprofit implementation
- Connect donation destinations to a reviewed payment and donor-management workflow.
- Define the source, refresh interval, units, and methodology for fundraising and impact figures.
- Obtain informed consent for beneficiary names, images, locations, and stories.
- Verify legal status, tax identifiers, financial links, accreditation marks, and trademark permissions.
- Explain restrictions, refund rules, recurring-gift cancellation, and privacy handling in the real transaction flow.
- Configure metadata, canonical URLs, redirects, sitemaps, structured data, and analytics consent separately.
Requirements and installation
- Drupal 11.3 or later within Drupal 11
- PHP 8.3 or later
- APEX Theme and its declared module stack
composer require 'drupal/apex_nonprofit:^1.0' drush theme:enable apex_nonprofit drush config:set system.theme default apex_nonprofit -y drush cr
Accessibility, trust, and SEO
The styles include reduced-motion, contrast, forced-colors, and print accommodations. Test the full giving and content experience for keyboard access, focus, form instructions and errors, zoom, reflow, image alternatives, readable language, and assistive-technology output.
Do not use emotional presentation to obscure material information or exaggerate impact. Search visibility and donor trust depend on original mission content, verified financial and outcome facts, descriptive titles and links, stable aliases, metadata, internal navigation, valid structured data, and real performance.
