Hello,

I've been trying to put the i18n module's Language Switcher block in the header region. I go to /admin/build/block, and assign it to "Header". But when I save, the block doesn't appear. Also, I notice on that page where it shows all the available regions, there is nothing showing for Header. I don't know much PHP, but I looked in page.tpl.php and don't see anything there for printing a header region....

I can work around this by assigning the block to "User 1" and using a negative top margin in style.css. But it seems like a clumsy solution, and thought it was worth mentioning that your theme appears to be missing this aspect.

Thanks,

Jim

I solved the problem, i sent a mail to themeshark and they answered me this:

"Hi,

The search form should need to be placed in a region. It may be a matter with permissions, or making certain that the search module is indeed enable. If the module is enabled, navigate to Adminiser > Site Building > Themes, and click to configure the Amity Island theme. Then confirm that the box next to 'Search Form' is checked. On default installs of Drupal the search box is often disabled.

If that's all set up correctly and the form still fails to appear, you may want to double check the user permissions.

As you noticed there's actually no header region being printed out in page.tpl.php. There wasn't actually supposed to have been a header region - the Search box takes that space - but I neglected to remove the header from the list in amity_island.info, which is why it still showed up as an available region on the blocks page. In 1.3 it's no longer shown.

Thanks Rob, that makes sense now that I hear your explanation. Removing the "Header" region from the blocks page will help avoid that confusion. Though I must say, most Drupal users are accustomed to having a Header region available, so it might not be the last you'll hear of it.

Jim
