If you toggle edit mode and click on, say, the title field, and change it, then click off, it pops up a warning that says you're about to lose your changes. This is good.

If you click into body text and make a word bold or whatever, however, and click off... you no longer get the warning, and you lose your changes. Same for links and other things you do through the toolbar.

Marking major since it's a data loss issue, but it's also a bit of an edge case so I'm not going to slot it in this sprint unless it's something easy.

Did you have the AE patches applied when you tested this? My patches should've fixed this.

I'm just installing Spark alpha4, so whatever patches are in the drupal-org.make file are the patches I have applied. (there are 4 of them)

This is an AE bug/deficiency, which we're working on to get fixed.
