There is a known issue implementing hook_block_view_MODULE_DELTA_alter hook with menu blocks, please refer to #1076132: hook_block_view_MODULE_DELTA_alter fails with menu blocks for futher info.

The attached patch applies the same solution to the ajaxblocks module.
