On pressing the "Preview" button only an alert showing "Comment preview" is displayed.

I've been working on a patch which basically tries to replicate the D7 behaviour.
It works for my needs.
Hope it may help.

Fatal error after applying patch and clicking on "Preview" button:

Symfony\Component\HttpKernel\Exception\HttpException: The specified #ajax callback is empty or not callable. in Drupal\Core\Form\FormAjaxResponseBuilder->buildResponse() (line 67 of /var/www/html/docroot/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Form/FormAjaxResponseBuilder.php).
