Expand highlight section to span across the site

Hi,

In the front page i want to add a slideshow that will span from left to right in the highlighted section with content "This is a promo space..".

Now i don't know how to remove "Descover aGov" in the right side bar of the front page.

Any idea how to remove this section at-least for the front page such that i can utilize whole space with slideshow image.
