Even if you included a brief introduction to CCK formatters, I'd the hardest time to figure out how to create them. After serious Googling I found my way to http://manueg.okkernoot.net/blog/200907/how-create-cck-formatter

Just a tip if you want to put it in the project description, it might help users out.

You might also want to try the Custom Formatters module, which allows you to make a custom CCK formatter inside of Drupal, without the need of creating a custom module. It supports both PHP formatters and simple HTML with tokens formatters.
