A great module Michelle. Thank you for your time and energy supporting this much needed feature for Drupal.

Pardon me if I've overlooked this in my search efforts. I found these but haven't found a solution:

http://drupal.org/node/245064
http://drupal.org/node/236870

I am using alpha16. Should I try the .dev version?

I have successfully integrated the user_stats and also using flatcomments. Not using any other forum related modules.

Once I turned on Advanced Forum, all initial forum posts (node author) shows "guest".

If it would help, I can post a link to my forum. Thanks :)

Erm... Those issues are ancient and can't possibly be related. AF has changed significantly since then.

I really have no clue what could be causing this in alpha 16. Go ahead and post a link to your forum. Not sure what I'll be able to tell from that, but it's a start.

Here is a thread showing this. We just started using AF a few days ago. Most of our forum is correct
since it existed before AF. Just new threads started now show guest.

Hmm... that's very strange. It doesn't even show the "not verified" like it would if it thought it was anon. And you're postitive if you disable AF the post author shows up on that thread? I can't think how AF would be causing this... If it was a problem in AF, you'd think it would be there on all the posts, not just some of them.

Will have to think on this some more but it's bed time. In the mean time, please double check that the "guest" turns back into your user name if you disable AF just to be sure I'm not hunting wild geese. :)

Ok, I disabled AF and posted a test topic. It posted correct author info. Disabling AF did not however turn the "guest" back into the correct
user name.

Ok, if you disable AF and it still says "Guest" then it's not AF displaying it improperly. There's something getting goofy when you actually save the node and there's not really anything I can do to help you on that. AF doesn't get involved in node editing / saving other than to theme the preview.

Sorry to bail on this but I've just got so much to do before the end of the year that I can't spend time troubleshooting something that isn't related to my modules.

That is strange because all node author posts are normal with AF disabled, but incorrect "guest" when enabled. It seems if the problem was somewhere else, then this "guest" behavior would happen regardless if using AF or not.

Ok, a little more info. I just noticed that I can post as GOD admin and the author info is correct. So the author info is "guest" for all other users. Now I'm thinking it's a permission problem or something.

Well, if you're sure it only happens when AF is enabled, I'll leave it active. But since AF has nothing at all to do with creating nodes, I don't have the first clue where to look to help you. AF is all about making the stuff look nice after it's been created. It doesn't deal with storing any data or do anything with the node add form.

Found the problem & fixed it.

I am using a module called "Override Node Publishing Options". Have used it a long time. It allows me as admin to assign other user roles certain publishing options that normally are only for admins. i.e. Forum Sticky, Authored by, Promoted to frontpage, etc. In drupal core, these options are only granted to admins.

In the past I only had permissions set for the "override sticky" option. However, I figured that in order for this module to work with AF, you also have to give permission to all users to "override authored by option" in the node options module. Apparently, the module fools AF into thinking there is no author but guest.

Or course, when I disable the "override node options" module altogether, this problem I was having goes away.

Now I just have to decide if I want to keep the override node options module or get rid of it.....we sure like our stickey's. :)

Thanks Michelle, you're awesome.

Wierd... I can't fathom what possible conflict there could be between that and AF. The only thing AF does on node/add is theme what you see if you hit preview. Does this problem occur if you don't preview the node before saving? If not, then maybe something goofy is happening with the previews? Long shot, but all I can think of.

You might want to try asking in that module's queue if they have any clue on this.
