I simple love this module since drupal 6 days. I see no sign or notice about efforts to port it on Drupal 8. Any idea or plan in this direction (especially when drupal 8 alpha 2 released already) ?

I have also interest in this feature. Are there any plans to do that?
Best regards

MichelleYes, I am going to port this to D8. I expect it will be a slow process as I am still learning D8 and so will be learning as I go but it will definitely happen.

MichelleJust to update this, between work, kids, and holiday preparations, I simply don't have the time I need to devote to this. I've made it a New Year's resolution to start putting time into it each week starting January 1st. Hopefully it will go better than I suspect my "eat better" resolution will go. LOL! Anyway, I really want to do this so I'm going to do whatever I can to make it happen but I need to get past the pressure of the holidays first. :)

end user CreditAttribution: end user commentedThanks for the effort Michelle! I tried Harmony earlier and was way too comlicated then it need to be not including all the extra module that were required.
MichelleYeah, I don't think Harmony will replace AF. It's a nice alternative but AF is good when you just want to make the core forums look nicer and have a little more functionality rather than going to a totally different forum module.

dillix CreditAttribution: dillix commentedMichelle, I can help you, to port AF to Drupal 8, but first we should create roadmap for 8.x-3.x. Also we should create project on Github to speed up development...
MichelleI really wanted to be the one to port this but I have to be realistic. I've been "planning on it" for way too long and so far haven't even managed to finish porting Author Pane, which is orders of magnitude simpler than AF. I don't want to be the hold up on getting this ported so if you have the time and want to get something going on Github, that's great. If I somehow manage to get it together and get some time on this, I'll join in on whatever is started.

MichelleAF is primarily a subtheme "engine" and a whole lot of theming with some views and page variants thrown in. Given that theming has completely changed in D8, Views is now in core and using them in modules has changed, and Page Manager isn't yet ready for D8, I think we are looking at a rewrite. That's one of the reasons I keep putting off tackling it. It's going to need a whole lot of thought before even writing a line of code to decide how it should be done under D8 and I just don't have the brainspace for such a major undertaking right now.
andypost@Michelle can you separate 80/20 most needed "features" from AF having your exp?
D8 forum is easily overridable out of box, so maybe better start from selecting what we need to override?
PS user_signature removed from core and still lives at https://github.com/andypost/signature

No Sssweat CreditAttribution: No Sssweat commentedWhy not use a block view, using the views module, instead of using author pane to display the author info?
Also, there is a Drupal Module Upgrader Module, which is recommended for porting by drupal.org.

mgiffordCurious to see that but it hasn't been supported for the last 3 years.

MichelleSince this has popped up again, I should probably say it is very unlikely I will ever be working on this. I continued supporting the module long after my own forum site failed and I wasn't using it anymore because I care about the module but I can't anymore. Unless we get a client that needs it, which is unlikely since forums have fallen out of favor, I won't be porting it. I keep hoping that someone who needs it will step up and take over but, so far, there just seems to be attempts that never make it anywhere.
The good news is that AF was built on top of core forum so all the forum content will move to D8 without AF. It will just take extra work to make it look nicer.
