Per #2200379-14: Upgrade UI, error messages are being logged to Recent Log Messages. When I try to run a migration, d6_node:page for example, I now get 21 pages of message reporting. All of the entries look like:

Interesting -- however, you can't run node migration alone, you need to first migrate filter formats and users.

I was looking to run something specifically that would fail. If there's a better migration to do that with, let me know!
Any migration is doing this, for example d6_system_site.
