Right Block does not expand with the width of the page

At DrupalCamp NYC#9 this issue came up. The schedule grid was wider than 1280. As a result, the page has usability/view ability issues for people with devices with smaller resolutions. (not limited to the iPad).

A picture is worth a thousand words, so I submit a picture from my iPad.

While a non-fixed width may not be the right approach (because it causes so many other design problems), I submit another solution could be the ability to turn the right blocks off for particularly wide pages. You lose navigation, but in certain use cases, it may be justified.
