Task description
The style guide provided by Mark Boulton Design Ltd includes Visual Language (brand), Editorial Guide and Prototypes. This was used as guidance through the Drupal.org Redesign project, and will continue to be an important reference, and now it needs to appear in the drupal.org Documentation.
Approach
* Investigate any current branding/visual language documentation on d.o.
* Add the Visual Language sections as nodes in the drupal.org Documentation, retaining original details (for revision tracking purposes).
* Then, refine and organize as needed, specifically:
* Work with the Legal team (crell?) to ensure the logo guidelines are correct.
* The final colors varied from the original proposal. Work with the theme leaders (drumm or DarkoA) to ensure the colors are documented correctly.
* Enhancements to the existing Visual Language guide would be to include design decisions, detail and reasoning behind each whenever possible (but the Redesign team with help with that).
Deliverable(s)
A section in the Documentation that has been reviewed by at least one member of the documentation team and Neil Drumm.
Resources
* HTML version of the Visual Language is found at https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/brand.html
* #drupal-redesign on IRC
* Issues tagged 'drupal.org redesign' (they live in many projects)
* http://groups.drupal.org/drupalorg-redesign-implementers

lisarex commentedThis would be a great standalone project for someone to work on. I will update this to match the GHOP task guidelines soon.

webchickSounds like a nice idea.
This needs to conform to the task template.
drummThe editorial guide made its way to http://drupal.org/node/338208 long ago.
The logo needs a little special attention to make sure we get legalese right. In general, we want to be open to make changes to Drupal.org easy, but don't want another site to exactly copy us.
lisarex commentedWow, I didn't realise. Couple things...
1) the revisions don't specify they were taking from the MBD style guide
2) they don't specify they were updated for the d.o. redesign
3) they don't match the MBD style guide (We've been following the rules for title case here, but it's different in the docs version https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/editorial.html
4) The node title indicates it's Doc-specific, but we want style guide for the whole of Drupal.org to follow

cwgordon7 commentedlisarex, if you still want to make this a GCI task, please write it up to conform to the task template. Thanks!

arianek commentedin line with my comment from http://drupal.org/node/371974#comment-3652632
we just need to be clear on whether this is encompassing HTML formatting or also grammar/text style guidelines. i love consistency but the MBD guide differs from the long-standing docs guide in spots, which makes me want to crawl into a hole.

drummhttps://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/editorial.html - this is done, keep as-is. No use in debating title casing. As always, should continue to evolve with the English language and our use of it, but that's a different issue.
https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/prototype.html - quickly becoming less useful. don't move it.
https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/brand.html - yes for moving, but not sure on the home. All of this needs to evolve with the Drupal community. Each sub-page, does bring its own challenges, such as:
- https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/logo.html we need to get the legalities right.
- https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/colour.html we need to show the colors we ended up using.

arianek commented@drumm fwiw wasn't debating the title casing, just noting that we need to figure out what to do in docs-land about it ;)
lisarex commentedI've updated the original node to conform to the task template. I've also scaled it down to just the Visual Language part of the guide, following drumm's input above.
arianek commentedhey lisarex - got your ping on this, it may be on the hefty side for a GCI task, but also more just a lot of detail, than being really difficult, especially with the amendments you've made re: drumm's notes. i'm fine either way whether it's GCI or just docs, but it might get done a lot faster as a GCI task!
amye commentedThis is added to the task list on GCI, with Lisarex as the mentor.

Please create a account of http://www.google-melange.com/ Thanks
Does someone has a better queue for this?

lisarex commented@dereine, I do have an account there (lisarex). I only just filled in the mentor agreement now though as I didn't realise I had to. Can I be assigned as mentor now?
amye commentedI've changed the title of the task to something more 'human readable' and assigned it to Lisarex.
drummDid GCI get this task done?
lisarex commentedNo. It's been converted to a task, but no one has claimed it up.
drummThe wordmark is governed by http://drupal.com/trademark and should be hosted on Drupal.com, so that is a separate issue for Dries to tackle. When done, we link to it.
drummI moved some pages to http://drupal.org/node/1050556. The main thing left to move is https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/brand.html.
lisarex commentedThanks Drumm. I will work on this since it wasn't snapped up by GCIers.
lisarex commentedThis wasn't picked up for GCI.
Unassigning myself for now while I'm caught up in the content audit. Folks are working on banner ad styles and when there's been some decisions, can they please link the decision comment here for reference?
lisarex commentedBrand is now a page http://drupal.org/node/1164620
(I am not sure the style guide should be in Drupal.org FAQ book. The book could be renamed or merged into About Drupal, but that'll be a separate issue)
tvn commentedClosing old issues. Please re-open if needed.
