I’m looking for a way to convert from another CMS; I have an MT-Import text file (not an XML file).

I found the “Import TypePad” module but it doesn’t seem to have been updated for Drupal 4.7 yet. The author’s Web page seems to have disappeared. I’d love if it someone could assist by updating this module; I lack the requisite skill. (However, I’d be willing to chip in for a bounty to any developer that could update it to the point where I could use it with my MT-Import file — which I could provide — and Drupal 4.7.)

TIA.

Assuming the typepad import is a one time run, just to get it into drupal, then-

One workaround way might be to
1) Install a drupal 4.6.x version (currently 4.6.9)
2) and then install and use this typepad import module to import all the info
3) and then, a) either rest easy at the fully functional 4.6.x or b) upgrade that to 4.7.x (currently 4.7.3) **

**disabling and removing the typepad import module in 4.6 before the upgrade

I’ve already got a 4.7.3+ site with a handful of pages already created. I’d like to bring my MT-Import data into that as cleanly and as completely as possible. (I’m converting from a Manila CMS, and have an MT-Import text file from that. It’s about the highest fidelity export I’m able to get with my time and ability constraints.) I thought about trying to use 4.6.x for the import with the TypePad import module, but:

  • If the TypePad module were updated to support Drupal 4.7, it would help me as well as other people; I’m willing to contribute to a bounty to (help) fund the work
  • I lack the current understanding of how to merge the data from 4.6 into an existing 4.7 site, if that can even be done.

I’d be open to any advice about merging the data for two sites together, and will be researching that.

Thanks!
