My topics are displaying to anonymous users but the replies are not showing. I am certain I just missed a button to activate the view.

Any ideas?

Probably in your admin >> access controls section. Scroll through it for the forum related settings, and make sure to tick in the appropriate checkboxes for anonymous users.
