I currently have a dev box, and a prod box for my site. Is there any easy way to copy changes from the dev box to the prod box? As of now, I have just been doing an sqldump on the dev box and then importing the dump on the prod box. Doesn't matter right now if I lose the content as the prod box isn't actually live. But once it goes live, dumping from dev to prod will kill all the stories. So should I not do a dump? And just manually change all the settings on the prod box so they match, and hope I don't miss anything? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have a very similar situation. What would be great here is to have a tool that can dump settings and a tool that can dump content changes separately. Anyone?
Migrate configuration from one environment to other
Hello,
I have a newbie question. What is the best practice for migrating the configuration from one environment to another.
Eg: I have dev, uat and prod sites. We try out all our configuration in dev first. Is there a way to export the configuration settings from dev to UAT and prod so that we don't have to implement the same configurations in other environemnts.
Thanks.
Some modules offer export-import
CCK and Views can export and import DB structures, AFAIK.
For data migration I have been using small custom scripts that load nodes from one DB and save it into the other with node_load() and node_save(). If you do it that way, rather than trying to copy data directly in MySQL, Drupal takes care of all its internal workings.
