Drupal is going to be represented at LinuxTag in Karlsruhe, Germany, from the 23rd to the 26th of June 2004. We will be sharing the CMS-booth (H105) with Zope, Plone, sTeam, Caudium, and Pike.

There will be a Drupal poster, Drupal leaflets, and - if I manage to get one - me wearing a Drupal t-shirt. I'll also demonstrate Drupal using a projector. I hope to be able to convert all the Zope people to happy Drupal users so show up and give me support. ;)

Update by Dries: the poster and leaflets are made possible thanks to donations by Tipic and Morbus Iff, and thanks to the hard work of our contributors.

If you want to demonstrate how standards compliant and accessible Drupal is, the Pushbutton development site has a block with validation icons, XHTML 1.0, CSS and Cynthia Tested (accessibility) - each icon links to an external service which reports on how well the page complies.

Thought it might be useful to visually demonstrate how clean Drupal code is. This page has more info:

Yes, I've read that text previously (and then ran that tests myself).

I will create a list of "things to show on the projector" and your site will be among that.

Maybe I'll set up some proxy to have it locally cached...

(wonder how one does that)

is it just me or is the fqdn wwwlinuxtag.org?

host linuxtag.org
..nothing...
host www.linuxtag.org
www.linuxtag.org is an alias for www.linuxtag.net.
... etc

update: mmh. some weird zone stuff going on. from other networks it's okay. anyhow, good to see drupal getting more publicity and it was good to see how the creative process to make the leaflets etc went.

good one and kudos to all involved!

Apart from the excellent taxonomy system, great usability, simple configuration and comprehensive functionality. The real selling point for me was that Drupal is easy to set up on shared hosting webspace.

A LOT of companies and organisations do not want or need a dedicated server, so being able to set Drupal up quickly and easily on shared hosting is a suprisingly important consideration. This is something that is not true of Zope/Plone, Bricolage, Aegir/Midgard, Apache Lenya, etc. Most other CMSs that can be set up easily on shared servers, don't really compare with Drupal (so far from what I have seen).

I hope you have lots of success at the show.

Ross.

forgot to mention. The short URLs are a real plus.

They only sound like simple things, but when looking at various options, working on a shared server (php) and short URLs were 2 points that I didn't want to compromise on.

How does one acquire a Drupal T-Shirt?

I don't know yet. I guess I will simply print out Druplicon and run to one of those shops which copy transfer the image. The result will not be really good, but I won't have to buy 200 shirts at once...

Here's a few tshirt designs that I worked on this morning: http://urlgreyhot.com/drupal/node/view/1888

some cool designs.

I really like your site too. It may be a bit off topic for here, but I would like to hear about what work has gone into setting it up.

This is off topic, but you can browse my site here:

The second one is really scary, I like it. }:-> I'll be going for something less intimidating though: Simply Druplicon on the place of the pocket.

jibbajabba’s picture

yeah. it is a bit scary looking. i figured you'd go for a more corporate looking design, which is why i did the "powered by drupal" version (just added a few minutes ago). i think the first 2 make nice posters. they're very much inspired by the iPod silhouette posters.

killes@www.drop.org’s picture

I can't download that version: "The image “http://urlgreyhot.com/files/tshirts/drupal-powered.png” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors."

Maybe change "drupal" to "Drupal" which is the spelling Dries preferes. Also, the 3D-Druplicon as used on the leaflet looks a bit better, I think.

killes@www.drop.org’s picture

Just a short note to he Drupal community: I have finally arrived. I was a bit late due to troubles with the printing of the poster. But now I am here. :)

The other projects have leaflets too, but ours are by far the prettiest. ;)

Dries and myself will be looking for a place on Drupal.org where I can post LinuxTag news.

Seems like this is the sort of thing people like to blog, no?

killes@www.drop.org’s picture

I guess. But since Drupal.org doesn't have the blog module enabled and I don't want to set up a blog site for myself, I am using the News&Announcements forum.

Do you have your digital camera with you? I'd love to see pictures from the event.

By the way, the pamphlet looks fantastic. Nice work to all!

Good luck!

No, I don't have a camera yet. There are pictures available here http://www.open-steam.org/linuxtag/2004.06.23/ also, I've asked to have my picture taken just now.
So it will appear there tomorrow.

As I type everybody can watch the text appear due to the projector which I am using. :)
