Hi there, I am looking to hire a Drupal programmer to convert a Wordpress blog and a forum to a Drupal community. I want the functionality of popsugar.com with the forum and karma module (http://drupal.org/node/66596) implemented. I am from a "developing" country, so programmers who like to quote outrageous prices need not send bids. A kind person with an agreeable personality is also a plus, since I am looking to build a professional relationship for the long run.

Outrageous is ordinary
I do not intend to bid bolonky but don't accuse people who bid realistically of bidding outrageusly. Living costs in the developed world are high and so are salaries, therefore costs must follow, what may seem outrageous to you is ordinary here. People charge what they have to to keep their business afloat.
Perhaps you'd be better off contracting someone local who has similar expenses as yours.

I am here at Drupal.org precisely to contact people with similar expenses as mine, exactly. You seem to assume that Drupal.org is only for developed country folks, I don't think that's the case. Last time I checked Drupal was a worldwide community that includes both high and low income countries.
"don't accuse people who bid realistically of bidding outrageusly". Outrageous means outrageous, I did not equate "outrageous" with "developed country prices". I mean people who overcharge (your reaction seems to indicate you do perhaps? :) )
Whoo! Slow down a bit there!
Whoo! Slow down a bit there! Putting words in my mouth ... all I said was perhaps someone else in Uruguay would be the best find, where you find that person I don't care. Don't try to paint me into being some elitist arrogant overcharging consultant-from-hell since you clearly don't know me, my values or political ideals.
Best of luck to you finding someone who suits your needs and budget!
