egfrith CreditAttribution: egfrith commentedf-spot (at least the version that comes with Ubuntu 4.08, Hardy Heron) works for me with the 6.x.1.x-dev version of image_pub.
Does f-spot not work for you? And if so, which version are you using?
I am intending to release a 6.x-1.0 version of image_pub very soon (hopefully later today).

underpressure CreditAttribution: underpressure commentedI have a Drupal 5 website. I based my request on the fact that no mention of F-Spot in the list of compatible programs under Feartures on the main page.
I'm asking for F-Spot compatibility with image.module via Image Publishing.
BTW I'm using Ubuntu 10.04

egfrith CreditAttribution: egfrith commentedYou're quite right - I've just realised that f-spot isn't mentioned there.
I've just moved my drupal 5 site in which image_pub worked with f-spot to drupal 6, so if you could test f-spot on your site and let me know the results, that would be great.
I will add f-spot in any case.

underpressure CreditAttribution: underpressure commentedI have a Drupal 6 site I'm not doing much with I guess I could use that to test the feature and get back to you.

egfrith CreditAttribution: egfrith commentedThanks - that would be great.
I think there might be a problem with the image caption being passed to drupal when using newer versions of f-spot. Despite having forgotten to put f-spot on the project page, I am an f-spot user, and have found this problem with captions when using a newer version of f-spot on my laptop.
If you do find the problem, I think replacing the "_" with a "." in extrafield_Description in image_pub.gr.inc (or image_pub.common.inc) might fix things.

underpressure CreditAttribution: underpressure commentedI tried it but it didn't work. Seems like I need Gallery 2 installed? I wanted to upload photos to the regular Image_gallery

egfrith CreditAttribution: egfrith commentedJust to check, are you using the latest dev version of image_pub at:
http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/image_pub-6.x-1.x-dev.tar.gz
and image module (and image gallery) 6.x-1.0-beta5?
If so, can you see any existing galleries from within f-spot?
You don't need to have gallery 2 installed.

underpressure CreditAttribution: underpressure commentedYes I downloaded both today. Attached a screeen shot of my settings and error.

egfrith CreditAttribution: egfrith commentedThanks for that. I am fairly confident that the reason for the error is that there are various versions of the (ugly) Gallery Remote protocol (http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery_Remote:Protocol), and the version of f-spot which you are using (which is considerably newer than the version I am using) demands that the server implements more of the protocol.
I will have to install the latest version of Ubuntu (which I have been meaning to do for some time) before I can get onto this. Although I'm keen, I estimate that given the other things I have to do, by the time I've installed Ubuntu and done some hacking, it will be weeks before this gets fixed. However, if you feel able and motivated, I would definitely have time to review a patch.

egfrith CreditAttribution: egfrith commentedHmmm.. I've tried out version 0.6.1.5 of f-spot ( the version that comes with Ubuntu 10.04) and it seems to work for me.
Furthermore, I can't see why it shouldn't work for you, unless the URL is mistyped or the module isn't installed. When f-spot is testing for the version it is testing for the existence of either of two URLs like this:
http://www.example.com/gallery_remote2.php
http://www.example.com/main.php
If neither exists, it returns the error that you showed in your screen shot. You can give it a completely fake url, and it will return the same error - but this is a problem with f-spot, not this module's implementation.
A quick test to see if the drupal module is working is to open either of the two URLs above in a web browser. If all's working, you should see the following message:
"For more information about Gallery Remote, see Gallery's website located at http://gallery.sourceforge.net"
It would be great if you could try this again, and let me know if you're still having problems. I'm marking this as fixed for now.
P.S. The f-spot function to look for is "DetectGalleryVersion" in http://git.gnome.org/browse/f-spot/tree/src/Extensions/Exporters/FSpot.E...

underpressure CreditAttribution: underpressure commentedThe problem is, I don't use the Gallery module. I was under the impression it worked with the Image module. It would have been nice if it did.
