Is there anyone out there who knows if the notification module (drupal 4.4.0) actually works? I am trying to use it and i understand that it will send notification emails if there are new posts on the site. But I am not getting these emails.
If this actually works, what are the things I need to do to set it up on my site?
There are some forums that discuss this but they're old and I can't get enough info from them...

It works for me...
Can you be more specific about the problem you're having?
One thing to check is that you have cron working, or have the poormanscron module installed. You can check this by going to http://yoursite/cron.php, which will cause all of the periodic background tasks to run. If this causes notify to send its emails, then you just need to get it called automatically, from cron.

I have it
I have it and it works wonderfully. Just remember to actually give yourself the proper permissions, have cron running properly, and actually tell it to mail you when you have changes (there are no defaults).
cron
cron is running properly. proof is i can search my site for particular word(s), on newly added content types.

Work smarter, not harder!
Pending issues at Notify module
I'll say very obvious things but just in case...
- Have you activated the appropriate permissions for the Notify module? (admin -> accounts -> permissions)
- Have you activated the option to receive notifications in your profile?
- Have you checked the pending issues of the Notify module?
We had the Notify module working properly in 4.3.* but with the change to 4.4.* some problems (still unsolved?) made us deactivate it...
