I have a client that has 220 cck fields and 20 languages, and the thought of inputting 220 fields 20 times has suddently struck them!

Is there a way to import fields using a csv or something similiar into the translation table? (avoiding the copy/paste route!)

you can use the Drupal core functionality to export and import .po files
admin/build/translate/export Export translation - Text group: CCK
admin/build/translate/import Import translation - Text group: CCK
