Preface

This is the Danland theme handbook, created to provide information and tips for customizing and modifying some of the design elements and features of the Danland theme. For additional information, including a list of Danland's features, known issues, a roadmap, and the latest release, please see the Danland project page.

To get help, submit feature requests, and report bugs, go to Issues for Danland page. To avoid duplicate submissions, please check whether your problem has already been reported or solved before posting. Please describe your problem clearly and provide detailed information, including links, screenshots, and configuration specifics, to make it easier for people to help you.

The Danland theme was developed by Danang Probo Sayekti aka danpros (Dan). Danland was inspired by a website designed by Maksimer.

Regions

Danland provides 17 regions for placing content, listed below:

  1. Preface top - displayed only on the front page
  2. Preface first
  3. Preface middle
  4. Preface last
  5. Content top
  6. Left sidebar
  7. Right sidebar
  8. Content middle
  9. Content bottom
  10. Bottom first
  11. Bottom middle
  12. Bottom last
  13. Bottom 1
  14. Bottom 2
  15. Bottom 3
  16. Bottom 4
  17. Footer

Note: Danland 7.x includes three additional regions:

  1. Search region
  2. Superfish menu
  3. Highlighter

Layout

Danland has different sizes for 2- or 3-column layouts, especially the sidebars and main content columns. For a 2-column layout, the sidebar size is 26% and the main content column size is 68%. For a 3-column layout, both the left and right sidebars are sized at 21% and the main content column size is 54% of the page width.

Wide image banner

In this theme, you'll find a very large banner image or slideshow beneath the menu bar. In Danland 6.x, you can activate a transparent white image below the banner by turning on the site's mission statement.

How to create rounded corners on the banner

The background of the banner image uses color degradation to improve banner's display on devices that display only a small number of colors. Because of this, you will need to use a special technique to make rounded corners on the banner image. If you are using Photoshop, follow the steps below to add rounded corners to your banner image:

  1. Open the picture that you want to use as a banner for your website. Crop or resize it so that the size is exactly 950x355px.
  2. Open the original image from the Danland banner.
  3. Zoom in as far as possible on both images so you can edit them at the pixel level.
  4. Move the mouse pointer to the lower left side of the Danland banner. You will see three distinct color points at the corner of the image. You must now perform the following steps for each of these three corner pixels in all four corners of your image.
  5. Using the Eyedropper tool, take a sample of the color of one of the three corner pixels.
  6. After obtaining a sample color, select the Pencil tool.
  7. Move to the corresponding pixel in your own banner image, and use the Pencil tool to apply the sampled color to that pixel. Make sure that you apply the color to the pixel in exactly the same position as the pixel on the original image.
  8. Repeat these steps for the other two pixels in that corner.
  9. Move the pointer to the upper left corner of the original images, and copy the colors of the three corner pixels to the corresponding pixels in your own images. Repeat these steps for the two remaining corners of your image.

How to change or add slideshow images

The Danland theme includes a slideshow feature on the front page. By default, only three images are included with the theme, but you can substitute others or add as many pictures as you like. Here's how:

  1. Select images with width of at least 950px; crop or resize so that final dimensions are 950 x 355 px. Upload into [yoursiteurl]/sites/all/themes/danland/images/slideshows.
  2. Change or add the URL for your new picture: In the Drupal 6.x version of Danland, make the change in the page-front.tpl.php file; in Drupal 7.x, make the change in the page.tpl.php file.
<div class="slideshow">

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slidesdhow 1"/><!-- change sea.jpg to yourpicture.jpg to replace with your picture -->

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/noon.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 2"/><!-- change noon.jpg to yourpicture.jpg to replace with your picture -->

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/snow.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 3"/><!-- change snow.jpg to yourpicture.jpg to replace with your picture -->

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/your-image.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 4"/> <!-- or add a new image in this statement -->

</div>

How to add new CSS body classes to Danland

Read this comment to learn how to add additional CSS body classes. By adding more body classes, you can use different CSS styles for Blog entries than for Stories, etc.

How to change the slideshow settings

You can configure the slideshow by changing the values in page-front.tpl.php in Danland 6.x or in page.tpl.php in Danland 7.x

<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
    $('.slideshow').cycle({
fx: 'fade' , timeout: 8000, delay: 2000});
});</script>

to create any slideshow effects that you want:

  • turnDown effect
  • <script type="text/javascript">
    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
        $('.slideshow').cycle({
    fx: 'turnDown' , timeout: 8000, delay:   2000});
    });</script>
  • shuffle effect
  • <script type="text/javascript">
    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
        $('.slideshow').cycle({
    fx: 'shuffle' , timeout: 8000, delay:   2000});
    });</script>
  • zoom effect
  • <script type="text/javascript">
    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
        $('.slideshow').cycle({
    fx: 'zoom' , sync:  false, timeout: 8000, delay:   2000});
    });</script>
  • curtainX effect
  • <script type="text/javascript">
    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
        $('.slideshow').cycle({
    fx: 'curtainX' , sync:  false, timeout: 8000, delay:   2000});
    });</script>

Do not forget to clear the cached data in Drupal under Performance settings and to clear your browser's cache before refreshing the page.

Read the complete documentation on configuring the slideshow.

How to change the height of the banner

Please try using the latest version of Danland if you want to change the banner height; it is very easy to do (minimum Danland version is 1.10).

The minimum height for the banner is 270px.

#slideshow-wrapper{
width:100%;
background: transparent url(images/slideshow-shadow.gif) no-repeat center bottom;
height:270px; <!-- default 420px -->
margin-bottom:-45px;
margin-top:14px;
}

The minimum image size is 205px.

.slideshow-inner{
width:950px;
margin:0 auto;
height:205px; <!-- default 355px -->
position:relative;
z-index:1;
}

.slideshow {
width:950px;
height:205px; <!-- default 355px -->
position:relative;
z-index:2;
}

Change the image height in page-front.tpl.php in Drupal 6.x or in page.tpl.php in Drupal 7.x.

<div class="slideshow">

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950" height="205" alt="Slideshow 1"/> <!-- default height 355px -->

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/noon.jpg" width="950" height="205" alt="Slideshow 2"/> <!-- default height 355px -->

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/snow.jpg" width="950" height="205" alt="Slideshow 3"/> <!-- default height 355px -->

</div>

So the gap between banner and image size is 65px, if 420px > 355px then if 270px > 205px.

How to convert a slideshow banner to a static banner

There may be times when you just want to use a static banner. Here's how to do that.

  1. Open the page-front.tpl.php file in Drupal 6.x or the page.tpl.php file in Drupal 7.x.
  2. Remove all but one picture between the slideshow classes.

For example, change

<div class="slideshow">

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 1"/>

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/noon.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 2"/>

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/snow.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 3"/>

</div>

to

<div class="slideshow">

<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950px" height="355px" alt="Slideshow 1"/> <-- your image here -->

</div>

How to replace the image slideshow with a Flash (.SWF) slideshow

Danland's built-in slideshow is created with a JQuery function. If you want, you can replace the built-in image slideshow with a Flash (.SWF) slideshow by doing this:

Replace the following code in page-front.tpl.php in Drupal 6.x or in page.tpl.php in Drupal 7.x

<div class="slideshow">
<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 1"/>

..........

</div>

with this:

<div class="slideshow">
<object width="950" height="355" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000">
     <param value="themes/danland/images/file.swf" name="movie">
     <param value="high" name="quality">
     <param value="transparent" name="wmode">

<embed width="950" height="355" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" quality="high" src="themes/danland/images/file.swf" wmode="transparent"></embed>
</object>

..........

</div>

Note: These instructions assume that the .swf files are in the Danland images folder.

Above code was taken from this comment for fixes regarding the Superfish dropping down behind the SWF slideshow issue.

Normally, the Danland theme displays the banner only on the front page. If you want to display the banner on all pages, follow the instructions below for the version of Drupal that you are using:

For Danland 6.x-1, rename the page.tpl.php file to another name, then rename page-front.tpl.php to page.tpl.php.

For Danland 6.x-2.x, after renaming the page-front.tpl.php to page.tpl.php, you must change the following code in template.php:

if (drupal_is_front_page()) {
  drupal_add_js(drupal_get_path('theme', 'danland') . '/scripts/jquery.cycle.all.js');
}

to

drupal_add_js(drupal_get_path('theme', 'danland') . '/scripts/jquery.cycle.all.js');

For Danland 7.x, read this comment.

How to get rid of that annoying gigantic image slideshow

Beginning with version 1.9, Danland comes with a subtheme called Danblog that has no banner or slideshow. Using the Danblog subtheme is the easiest way to eliminate this feature.

How to change the size of the sidebar and main content regions

You do that by changing the following code:

For main content (using a 2-column layout):

.sidebars-1 #content{
width: 69%;  <!-- this is the main content size -->
padding-left: 25px; <!-- change this -->
float: left;
padding-top: 10px;
}

For main content (using a 3-column layout):

.sidebars-2 #content{
width: 54%; <!-- this is the main content size -->
float: left;
}

For sidebar left (using a 2-column layout):

#sidebar-side-1 #sidebar-left {
width: 26%; <!-- change this -->
float: left;
margin-right: 2%;
}

For sidebar left (using a 3-column layout):

#sidebar-side-2 #sidebar-left {
width: 21%; <!-- change this -->
float: left;
margin-right: 2%;
}

For sidebar right (using a 2-column layout):

#sidebar-side-1 #sidebar-right {
width: 26%; <!-- change this -->
float: right;
}

For sidebar right (using a 3-column layout):

#sidebar-side-2 #sidebar-right {
width: 21%; <!-- change this -->
float: right;
padding-top: 10px;
}

How to set up the Superfish menu

Here are the steps to populate the Superfish menu. For example, to create a menu of products:

  1. Go to Administer > Menus > Primary links > Add item
  2. Fill "Path" with "all-my-products-url", "Menu link title" with "All Products", and "Descriptions" with "All products". (In Drupal 7, Main menu replaces Primary links.)
  3. Enable the "Expanded" checkbox. For parent item, choose "Primary links", and "Save"
  4. Now creating the submenu. Go again to Administer > Menus > Primary links > Add item
  5. Fill "Path" with "my-product-1-url", "Menu link title" with "My Product 1", and "Descriptions" with "My Product 1"
  6. For parent item, choose "All Products", and "Save"
  7. Go to Administer > Blocks. Place the Primary links block in the Superfish menu region, and "Save blocks"
  8. Go to Administer > Site building > Themes > Configure > Danland (admin/build/themes/settings/danland). Uncheck the Primary links, "Save configuration".

Note: The paths "all-my-products-url" and "my-product-1-url" in this example must already exist.

Note: Read the readme.txt in the Danland folder for more info.

Note: The Superfish menu is built into the Danland theme. You do not need to install a separate Superfish module to use the Danland Superfish menu.

How to change the background color of the Superfish menu

Locate the code below in style.css and copy it to local.css. Then modify the line of code indicated below to specify the new background color for the menu.

#superfish .menu li li {
background: #004f90; <!-- change this -->
left: -1px;
}

#superfish .menu li li li {
background: #004f90; <!-- change this -->
top: 0px;
}

#superfish .menu li.active-trail li {
background: #004f90; <!-- change this -->
}

#superfish .menu li li:hover {
background: #004f90; <!-- change this -->
}

#superfish .menu li li li:hover {
background: #004f90; <!-- change this -->
}

You can experiment to pick the right color. There are many easy-to-use tools on the web that will help you identify the color code.

How to enable the Search box at the right top

For Danland 6.x, you can enable the Search box by visiting:

  1. Administer > Modules. Check the "Search" and save the configuration.
  2. If the Search box is still not displayed, go to Administer > Site building > Themes > Configure > Danland (admin/build/themes/settings/danland). Check the "Search box" and save.

For Danland 7.x, go to Structure > Blocks and drag the the Search form block to beneath the Search region heading. Make sure to set the right permissions. Then save your configuration.

How to use local.css to protect your customizations from theme updates

If you modify the CSS for the theme, do not make your changes in the style.css file. This file will be replaced if you install a new version of the theme, and your changes will be overwritten. Instead, make all changes in local.css. This stylesheet will override the style.css file. The local.css file is not part of the Danland installation, so it will not be overwritten when you update the theme. To create the local.css file, follow these steps:

  1. Rename local_sample.css to local.css. (The local-sample.css file is included in the Danland installation.)
  2. Copy the blocks of code that you want to override from style.css to local.css.
    Make your changes to the code in local.css.
  3. In danland.info, uncomment the call to local.css by making the change below. If you do not make this change to the danland.info file, the local.css file will be ignored.
  4. Change this:

    ;stylesheets[all][] = local.css

    to this:

    stylesheets[all][] = local.css

    Where is the danland.info? Inside the Danland theme folder.

    By restricting your css changes to local.css, your changes will not be overwritten when you upgrade to a new version of the theme.

    Tips to change the CSS

    Beginning with version 2.x, the ids and classes of the frontpage and regular pages are the same. Just change it in accordance with the class name or id.

    How to remove the Login | Register links and the RSS button

    The Login | Register links and the RSS button can be removed by adding the following code to the local.css file:

    #authorize {
    display: none;
    }

    l

    To remove only the Login | Register links, use this code:

    #authorize ul {
    display: none;
    }

    To disable only the Login link, you can add this

    #authorize ul li.first{
    display:none;
    }

    To disable only the Register link, you can add this

    #authorize ul li{
    display:none;
    }

    #authorize ul li.first{
    display:block;
    }

    To disable only the rss feed button, you can add this

    #authorize .feed-icon{
    display:none;
    }

    You do not need to remove that code from page-front.tpl.php or page.tpl.php, in case you need it in the future.

    Note: For Danland 7.x, read this comment.

    How to remove the notice links

    The notice links at the bottom of the page, "Theme by Danetsoft and Danang Probo Sayekti inspired by Maksimer", can be removed by using the local.css file, and add:

    #notice {
    display: none;
    }

    Adding the above code to your local.css will ensures that any upgrades of the theme will not reverse your changes.

    How to turn on the site's mission statement

    You can configure the site's mission statement by visiting: Administer > Site building > Themes > Configure > Danland (admin/build/themes/settings/danland).

    Please add a "mission statement" on the "site information" page first. Note, in Drupal 7 there is no mission statement. Check your Blocks page for a "Site mission" block. If one does not exist, create one and place in the Highlighted region.

    How to set up the menu

    Go to Administer > Menus. You can adding a new menu there, for the Primary links will be displayed at the top, and for the Secondary links will be displayed at the bottom.

    How to enable user pictures

    1. Go to Administer > User settings. You can enable the signature and user picture support there
    2. Go to Administer > Site building > Themes > Configure > Danland (admin/build/themes/settings/danland). Check the "User pictures in posts" and "User pictures in comments"

    How to remove the "Search this site:" label

    To remove that, simply add this code to style.css or local.css

    #search-box label { display: none;}

    How to replace the search submit button with an image

    How to prevent the Superfish menu from dropping behind a Views slideshow in IE

    The z-index for the menu must be set to be greater than the z-index for the main body. Sample code which works on my site:

    #superfish {
    position:relative;
    z-index:99;
    }
    #main-wrapper {
    position:relative;
    }

You could also just copy the corners from the images supplied with Danland and copy them to the four corners - might a little quicker, using the "Magic Wand" tool.
Thanks for the work, the thought and a comprehensive documentation dan. I am wroking my way through this now and may add other thoughts later.

The code above does not seem to work to remove just the register link...can you verify? Thanks for a great theme, btw!

Just trying out your theme for the first time. Looks nice so far.

Is there a way to randomize the images in the slideshow on the front page?

Thanks!

Hi,

I added an issue but I am not sure that's the right way to ask my questing. So here it is again:

I am using the danland theme on drupal 7.9. In Internet Explorer the page is not shown centered, in FireFox it is. I am not knowledgable enough to solve this by myself. So could you please tell where I should start to look. Is the centering done by Javascript, CSS, what should I look for?

When I load the danland demo site in the same browser it is centered.

Thanks!

CarloB’s picture

Add more images to slideshow does not work to me on Danland ... my fault but don't know what to do to solve it. My enviroment: (Windows 7 - 64 bit)

1) Drupal 7.9
2) XAMPP (local)
3) no page-front.tpl.php. I only found maintenance-page.tpl.php in sites/all/themes/danland/ that has the slideshow php code.
4) I found file page--front.tpl.php (with TWO -) in sites/all/themes/openpublic_eu/page/ but does not seem to me the same file mentioned here to adda a new image
5) I modifyed maintenance-page.tpl.php file in the following way:

<div class="slideshow">
<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/myphoto.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 1"/>
<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 2"/>
<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/noon.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 3"/>
<img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/snow.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 4"/>
</div>

when I reload the page on my chrome browser, noting changes. If I inspect the page with FireBug, I DON'T SEE THE LINE CONTAINIG MYPHOTO, but I see:

<img src="/mysite.local/sites/all/themes/danland/images/slideshows/sea.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 1" style="position: absolute; z-index: 4; top: 0px; left: 0px; display: block; width: 950px; height: 355px; opacity: 1; "/>
<img src="/mysite.local/sites/all/themes/danland/images/slideshows/noon.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 2" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 950px; height: 355px; z-index: 3; opacity: 0; display: none; "/>
<img src="/mysite.local/sites/all/themes/danland/images/slideshows/snow.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 3" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 950px; height: 355px; z-index: 3; opacity: 0; display: none; "/>

WHAT I'M DOING WRONG ???It seems that my changes aren't applyed ...

Hello Carlo
At step 3 you are suppose to be in sites/all/themes/danland
Danland - D7 does not use page-front.tpl.php so you have to use page.tpl.php
Open this file and you will find where to add your lines for your image.

btw: maintenance-page.tpl.php is the template that is shown when the site is in off-line mode

CarloB’s picture

clivesj,
thank you very very very much.
I thought I looked inside that file but it seems I was too sleepy to don't find such code inside the page.tpl.php file.

I'm happy, and you, drupal guys, are GREAT !!!

ThnX,
Carlo

If I create a block and put inside the code :

sure you can use the slideshow content on other sites.

try this:

I use the Views Slideshow module to create a block and then you can place it on any page. You can clone it if you want to show the same slideshow in another region.

serverbokep’s picture

how to change the slideshow effect if my drupall was 7.x and dont have page-front.tpl.php??

joshbgosh10592’s picture

you don't have a page-front.tpl.php in drupal 7. the file you need to edit is page.tpl.php

deoxyna’s picture

In Drupal 7.x, you need to change the setting in the jquery.cycle.all.js file inside the /scripts folder of the Danland theme directory.

Booranger’s picture

Hey,
So I've changed my main content size following the instructions above but nothing seems to happen. I've cleared the cache. I've tried editing side bar too, they do change but as I've only admin menu there its no help for guests as the main content takes up page when not logged in(as in the main content is as large as the slideshow image (W:950x).

Boo

Booranger’s picture

so rather then change what instruction say to do I changed the content id in the styles.css file.

/* Content regions
-------------------------------------------------------------- */

#wrapper {
width:950px;
margin: 15px auto 10px;
}

#content {
width: 80%; /*Use be 100*/
float: left;
padding-left:85px; /*added line*/

How can I change the background? I see we can change the color, but can we as a background image?

bellamyjc’s picture

Yes, we can, and it's very easy!

1) Create (if it doesn't exist) a local.css file
cf.: /node/768350#local-css

2) In this file, add this block :
body {
background:url(images/my-personal-background.jpg);
...
}
NB: In this example, I have stored "my-personal-background.jpg" in the "images" subfolder
(/sites/all/themes/danland/images)

It did not work for me. I removed the ; from the line in danland.info to allow local.css to be used.
I added

body {
background:url(images/background.jpg);
}

to local.css and uploaded the image background.jpg to the images folder in the danland theme folder.

So why will it not show up on the site?

avoura’s picture

Okay, after some searching in the forums for Danland issues, I found a solution.
https://drupal.org/node/1418886
This says to clear the caches of the site, which is done from the adminstration pages via Configuration - Performance - Clear all caches.
Hope this helps someone, as it worked for me and the image now appears, although it shows through the main content area and looks bad, but at least it shows and I can now edit that image to get it how I want it.

vitorallo’s picture

great job guys, I worked a simple site with it.. just perfect.

I made part of the Welcome to Website banner (content) page-title disappearing by adding

#first-time {
display:none;
}

to local.css but I have no clue if there is a way to make this annoying message to get out of my home page. I don't want to add content and promote it to the home page!! please help

vitorallo’s picture

make the annoying line, margine line at the very bottom of every node content by adding this to your local.css

.node {
border-bottom: hidden;
margin: 20px 0;
padding-bottom:15px;
}

Hi,
Can I bring the sidebars(both left and right) to the side of the slideshow. Presently I am using the Drupal6 version. Currently, the slideshow appears in the center, and the sidebars are below the slideshow. I want them to be relative and occur to the side of the slideshow itself. Please tell me how am I supposed to do.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am using the "<"code"> and <"/code">" tags (without quotes) to attempt to insert code into a basic page and have been unable to get it to work. Please advise.

P.s. here is what I am trying to do to make a link to send an email: <a href="mailto:michael_area@yahoo.com">email me</a> (I put that code between "code" tags and it did not actually treat it as html code.)

joshbgosh10592’s picture

Make sure you are using either the Filtered HTML, or Full HMTL. When you are using both of these, the email links along with URLs should automatically become hyperlinks.

Also, I can not figure out how to comment on this page.. But I am having a problem with the local.css. I renamed the local-sample.css to local.css, copied

#superfish .menu li li:hover {
background: #45ff32;
}

as a test, removed the ; in the danland.info, but the superfish background when I hover is still the blue..

andykuns’s picture

The background is not changed because the theme was using images to display the menu color. So if you want change the color you should change the image:
background:transparent url(images/menu-hover-bg.gif) repeat-x;
}

#superfish .menu li.active-trail {
background:transparent url(images/menu-hover-bg.gif) repeat-x;

Hi--

I'm very new to theming (and Drupal, actually). How difficult would it be to move the location of the slideshow in this theme? I'd like to have it smaller, and to the left of the 2 columns. Is this even possible? Thanks!

lordbucanero’s picture

Hello,
in my current website I'm using your theme and when I have a menu with some child if I move the mouse over the parent the menu expands and show the child, but if I click the parent I will be redirected to somewhere. I want this functionality removed, the parents to be only a "container" for the expanded children.

After a lot of time researching all the code I couldn't find anything to do this, so I come to you.

How can I do this??

Alright so I adjusted the danland.info file and removed the ; at the beginning as stated.
I renamed the sample.local.css to local.css
I copied the area I wanted to change and made my changes - they were ignored.
I decided to edit the style.css it was ignored.

I don't want the white background I seem to be stuck with, help us out here ;)

Sorry, if this has been answered before, but I can't find it! Danland is a really beautiful clean design. I just need to make a few changes.

1.) How do I delete the "read me" which expands the teaser?

2) How do I stop "posted by" from being posted?

3.) How do I post pictures where I want instead of at the top of the page.

4.) How do I add an image field to a basic page

Any help would be appreciated. It seems like very, very basic stuff but I can't find how to make the simple changes. Thanks.

Any one notice how things look weird when checking
on a site with an ipad.

The Danland theme running java causes something to not look right when
looking at the site.
My best view would describe it as a row of buttons that can
react at a depressed key. The Java drop downs do not
work.

If you are on your ipad check the link below.

So I am building two sites and I came across something I needed to do but don't know how.

I want to have one view block on multiple pages (so I'm not cluttered with millions of views) and i want the view to display content that has the same Taxonomy term as the basic page that the view block is being displayed on.my site is Dedicated Server Hosting

how do i change the superfish dropdown menu in danland from vertical to horizontal?

homemade-jam’s picture

I also have a superfish question. I'm trying to set it such that when I mouse over a dropdown menu it automatically appears rather than having to click the root node. How do I modify superfish such that this happens? Have I misconfigured superfish or Drupal itself? Which particular file am I editing for superfish? /themes/danland/scripts/superfish.js?

Thanks.

homemade-jam’s picture

Excuse the double post but I found a solution. Like it says everywhere, you have to click "show expanded". However I couldn't find this. To do it, go to structure/menu/manage/main-menu or click structure->menus then next to "main menu" choose list links. Next to each link in that page there is the "edit" option. Choose this on each link and there is a check box called "show expaned". Finally, I found it!

tryitonce’s picture

perfect - no worries about "double posting" -

it is always much better to take the time and effort coming back to post your solution. This will be very much appreciated by the next person running into the same r similar problem - thanks, great ....

To change the slideshow effects/setting, isn't it the file

scripts/jquery.cycle.all.js

instead of

page.tpl.php

to modify and/or adjust?

I am having difficulty changing the standard pictures in the slideshow that comes along with the theme in Danland. I am a newbie and do not understanding the following step..."Upload into [yoursiteurl]/sites/all/themes/danland/images/slideshows." Where would I find this, maybe within my host control panel - InMotion?

Then, the next step is...

Change or add the URL for your new picture: In Drupal 7.x, make the change in the page.tpl.php file.

Where would I find the page.tpl.php file?

Thanks so much for your help!

For main content (using a 2-column layout):

.sidebars-1 #content{
width: 69%;  <!-- this is the main content size -->
padding-left: 25px; <!-- change this -->
float: left;
padding-top: 10px;
}

Where to make the changes, which file??

How to change the slideshow settings

You can configure the slideshow by changing the values in page-front.tpl.php in Danland 6.x or in page.tpl.php in Danland 7.x

When you say that, I am sure that you mean "jquery.cycle.all.js" file on folder danland/scripts. I have just tested it and everything works perfectly.

Thank you so much for your GREAT theme, and useful documentation :-)

but 7.0 has:

<?php

print danland_page_class($page['sidebar_first'], $page['sidebar_second']);

Can you provide the solution for the new version of Danland.

I have a site I'm building that has a menu I'd like to have change background color on hover - like this:

http://imgur.com/xW52S9i

The problem is that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to prevent the background color from showing up only on the top-most main menu. What I've got now does this:

http://imgur.com/vRiNaK4

Right now, the css is this:

#superfish .menu li:hover, #superfish .menu li.sfHover,
#superfish .menu a:focus, #superfish .menu a:hover, #superfish .menu a:active {
outline:0;
color: #ffffff;
background-color: #003399;
}

But no matter where I try to edit the css to isolate that top-most main menu, it still changes background color for that top-most main menu.

Which bit of CSS should I be editing? Halp!

I'm trying to remove the notice link info at the bottom of the Danland theme. Following instructions on number 21 I tried adding the below code to my local.css file, cleared the cache, cleared the browser and the line is still on the webpage. I am using Drupal 7.26

#notice {
display: none;
}

I've even tried removing the below set of code and only having above and still no result.

#notice {
font-size: 10px;
text-align:center;
margin-bottom: -10px;
}

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Did you enable local.css in your danland.info file?

stylesheets[all][] = local.css

JakeRogers’s picture

It's pretty easy to make your image a clickable link to a node at your site. Ever heard this before here? Well this time, it is TRUE.
Internal link by adding the href and don't forget to close:
<a href="node/138"><img src="<?php print $base_path . $directory; ?>/images/slideshows/Image6.jpg" width="950" height="355" alt="slideshow 6"/></a>

This, of course goes in the page.tpl.php file within your danland folder.
