I'm creating a bilingual site (Welsh/English) for an arts organisation.

I've used CCK to create an "Artist profile" type, to hold information on artists.

I want to supply an English-language text and a Welsh one (i.e. not to have automatic translation).

If I create a new event, I can select English, enter the English language text, save it, then choose Welsh as the language, enter the Welsh text and save it, and then the event switches between the two when I use the language switcher.

However, for Artist profiles, this doesn't work: the same language text appears whatever I do with the language switcher, and it's always the second one I entered (as if the language chosen is being ignored and the text treated as language neutral).

I am guessing that there is a setting somewhere that I have go wrong, but comparing the details of the Event and the Artist profile data types hasn't enlightened me. Can anyone offer suggestions?

Thanks

MArk

I don't know what the problem could be. You could check the multilingual support option under the Workflow Settings for each content type.

I think I was wrong in what I posted above... as I'm now finding that I'm failing to post alternative texts for Events in the two languages as well.

So... what do I have to do in order to be able to post two versions of each entry, one in English and one in Welsh, so that when I switch from one language to the other in the language switch, I go from seeing the Welsh version to the English and vice verse.

All I've seen is stuff about automatic translation, and it is clear that this is **not** what I am after.

Thanks

I have the same issue in Arabic. I have completed all the installations of 18i, arabic .po files. The interface text toggles ok. But the content is not showing alternative fields to paste the text in both languages.

I configured the Content Type to be translatable but the "Translate" button is not showing up when you view the content as an admin.

This site is hosted by SiteGround if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I figured it out....

under Workflow settings for each content type you need to select the "Enabled, with Translation" checkbox...simply selecting "enabled" will not allow the ability to enter node text for more than one language.

Wow, feels good to finally post a solution on here.
