LayerSwitcherPlus is the OpenLayers LayerSwitcher with improvements which were committed to OpenLayers proper 5 months ago ( http://trac.openlayers.org/changeset/9767 ). The code could be switched to OpenLayers itself, but likely CSS will need to be updated around it.

tmcw CreditAttribution: tmcw commentedThe benefit of switching to LayerSwitcher is simply that one can delete a bunch of code in a bunch of places (removing a behavior, removing references to it) and move more in line with OpenLayers. There's no serious disadvantage to running with LayerSwitcherPlus for a while, although eventually it'll fall out of compatibility with OpenLayers.
