Is there something to do for Lightbox to work, or should it just happen?

Select Lightbox2 at admin/store/settings/products/edit/general

I thought it defaulted to the first widget it found, but maybe not.

Yes it probably does default. I originally had Thickbox installed, and that worked, but then I didn't know, or couldn't remember how to change it.

Now that I am thinking about it, if no light box is installed, it would be a good idea to have the option of opening images in a new window also. Many web sites/shopping carts still do that, and it works OK.
